The hazards of asbestos are well recognized, with tens of thousands of individuals affected by the disease mesothelioma , asbestosis and linked diseases. For many years, the owners and innocent workers lived and worked around asbestos friable, could do without the know-how of the hazardous and often fatal injuries, breathing in relatively small amounts of asbestos dust. A common problem, among the many people who have had at slightest some exposure to asbestos, the extent to which asbestos causes cancer because you are sick or worse to believe?

The first thing is to know about asbestos exposure, that the negative effects of this exposure have a long latency period. It’s not a person exposed to asbestos do not develop mesothelioma 25-40 years after exposure rarity. Mesothelioma is a cancer of the mesothelium, a shielding layer, which affects most of the security organs of the body covered. Asbestos fibers are inhaled located in the lining of the lungs and ultimately cause cells to change and grow to be malignant. Approximately 70-80% of mesothelioma cases is believed to be caused by varying degrees of exposure to asbestos.

The amount of exposure that caused disease in humans is a subject of debate. Although there were many instances of the factory or other workers, the high burden for the free exhibition, friable many years, the development of the disease, there are also cases where the exhibition was as short as a few months or weeks. Intensity of exposure is more likely to be relevant than the duration of time. If you think you were exposed to asbestos dust a good idea, so much can be reminded how to write, that the duration of time, intensity, where and how they were exposed. Asbestos litigation often done if you can ascertain you worked in an industrial environment or work or live in an environment where it friable asbestos, that was exposed to influences.

One reason why it is so imperative, as much as possible to document the level of exposure to asbestos can, is that the disease mesothelioma very difficult to understand and is often confused with other types of cancer. It is imperative to recognize early signs of asbestos disease, both for early treatment and to obviously identify the cause of a later dispute. The two main types of mesothelioma are pleural (chest) and peritoneal (abdomen). In the pleural membrane thickening of the lung fluid collected. Both problems cause the contraction of the lungs and make breathing hard. In peritoneal-like symptoms, but in the abdominal region, the fluid retention and pain into the region.

Infants and Children

Urgent medical care is obligatory among these infants and children. Produces the digestive acid can tolerate this acid well, but not the esophagus. Even reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus, if allowed to continue untreated, can cause frequent burning chest or stomach pain, chronic cough, bad breath, and esophageal stricture, making the food pipe too narrow for food to pass through. In some cases, the chronic esophagitis can even cause ulcers and bleeding. Some patients develop Barrett’s metaplasia, where the cells in the inner lining of the esophagus take on abnormal shape and color, and, over time, this becomes cancer.

Avoiding these items listed below.

o Quitting cigarettes

o Avoiding alcoholic beverages

o Avoiding spicy foods

Using these items listed below

o Eating small meals

o Waiting for about 3 hours after eating before lying down

o Wearing loose-fitting clothes for sleeping

o Raising the head of the bed about 8 inches (with blocks under the bed posts; adding pillows may not work as they move out of place)

o Religiously taking the medications prescribed by the physician.

 Hydroco Overdose

Urgent medical care is needed in the event of a hydroco overdose. One of the first methods of treatment for this type of overdose is to make sure that you prevent the body from absorbing any more of the drug from the stomach. Also, both the respiratory and circulatory systems must be protected. Usually a patient with hydrocodone overdose ends up in the I.C.U for extended medical care. Naloxone, which acts as a narcotic antagonist is often used to reverse the poisoning of this narcotic. Acetaminophen poisoning is another worry, which can damage the liver, and if this is a problem, then acetylcysteine is usually give to the patient to help in the protection of the liver. Unfortunately, hydroco is also a drug that is being abused more and more. Many researchers and physicians actually think that hydrocodone may be the number one most abused prescription drug in America today. While the use of this drug is regulated, it is not as regulated as other drug, which is why many people find it easier to get this drug. Some people go prescription shopping from doctor to doctor, others steal the drug, and some even forge prescriptions for hydroco. A person can become addicted to hydrocodone in just 1-4 weeks, and the addiction is very hard to break.

Drinking Untreated water

This is widespread in New Zealand’s waterways and will cause diarrhea and stomach bloating. Drinking untreated water from streams and lakes is not recommended.
- hepatitis C is primarily spread by contact with infected human blood and today the greatest risk of transmission is through blood-to-blood contact involved with injecting drugs. Blood transfusion services in New Zealand fully screen all blood before use.
– The HIV rates in New Zealand have stabilized similar to those in other western countries.

I would like to recommend you that you must avoid those things which become a cause to go for urgent medical care and must use those things which become a cause for better healthier life.

October 2009 is being acknowledged as the breast cancer awareness month in the US. The folded pink ribbon has been chosen as the symbol of breast cancer awareness. The White House will be decorated in a dash of pink this weekend, keeping up with the spirit of awareness. It has been planned that pink ribbons will be hung on the columns outside the White House’s front doors and will stay there till the weekend. On Friday, October 24th an event in this regard was hosted by the US first lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, the wife of the US vice president. The event was attended by breast cancer survivors and the awareness advocates.

Mrs Obama, donning the pink emblem on her dress, emphasized that getting sick should not mean that you are going bankrupt. She also emphasized that easier insurance policies will help cancer patients in their fight against the disease. Incidentally, Michelle Obama used to work as a hospital administrator in Chicago. Jill Biden, too, had earlier organized an awareness program in Delaware. In USA, every year about 210,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. An organization by the name of Susan Komen foundation are planning to organize a ‘mom’s day out’in collaboration with students from Elmira free Academy and Southside High School.

Meanwhile, on October 16, a band of five girls performed at Amigos Cantina in Canada to raise funds and make people aware of the menace of breast cancer. The Saskatchewan date of Babes for Breasts, a national all-female fundraising tour brought the regional female artists together in a bid to raise the awareness.

In another important news, Dr. Sunita Chauhan, an Indian robotics-scientist has unveiled a completely non-invasive surgery process for the treatment of breast cancer. This process, unveiled on October 25th use robots known as FUSBOTS to perform surgeries on stage two breast cancer. Dr. Chauhan has invented these FUSBOTS with assistance from a group of 20 students from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. The clinical trials on animals have shown satisfactory results. Dr. Chauhan says, the human trials will begin after the certification procedure is completed.

Men’s Prostrate Cancer

By J. Smithson

PSA Elevated: You may not need a Prostrate Biopsy.

I have decided to take a more personal research project concerning male prostate cancer. It is a personal analysis and research because my father and brother both had prostate cancer. And for a man, this really concerns each of us, because of our manhood. (if you know what I mean). I should have never shared my personal history concerning my brother and father. If I had known what was coming by the biopsy outpatient experience I would not have done the procedure.

Well, I was scared to death about it, so I was up front and honest about it. But if I had known what I would be going through, I would not have done it. If you have been in the military, and over 35, then you know about the PSA test. If you have a HMO and are over 35 then you will find out about this test soon enough.

But as a parent and grandparent, we make those decisions because of those that care for us. They tell you that there is nothing that you can do. It is “genetics”, as stated by my doctor. So I decided to do some research and present some other information to help those of us who are challenged by this. I have found my remedy, but it may not be for everyone. But it works for me. But first the research, pros and cons, then I will share my personal solution of how I lowered my PSA at the age of 56.

“Researchers now say that not all men with elevated PSA (prostate specific antigen) levels need prostate biopsy to test for prostate cancer. A naturally occurring hormone can also raise PSA levels, and the test may not always mean prostate biopsy should be performed. “(Blanchard , 2010)

“The findings come from researchers at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by Gary G. Schwartz, Ph.D., M.P.H. The PSA test is widely used to detect prostate cancer in men, but Schwartz says the test detects more than just cancer. “(Blanchard , 2010)

“PSA picks up any prostate activity, not just cancer. Inflammation and other factors can elevate PSA levels. If the levels are elevated, the man is usually sent for a biopsy. The problem is that, as men age, they often develop microscopic cancers in the prostate that are clinically insignificant. If it weren’t for the biopsy, these clinically insignificant cancers, which would never develop into fatal prostate cancer, would never be seen.” (Blanchard , 2010)
Blanchard, K. (2010).

Mesothelioma is a rare, but brutal form of cancer. It is most often associated with exposure to asbestos at some point in your life, but can occur without such exposure. The question for most patients, however, is what are the chances of surviving this form of cancer?

It goes without saying that “chances” and percentages should be taken for what they are – an estimate. If something happens 9 out of 10 times, there is still a decent chance that you might be that 1 out of ten times. The survival rate of any cancer should be taken only as a guideline, not anything more than that. Patients beat cancer all the time and there is no reason that you can’t either.

The survival rate with Mesothelioma is done on a five year projection. This simply means that the number of patients surviving the cancer are compared through each of the five years after diagnosis. For instance, 39 percent of patients diagnosed with Mesothelioma survive for more than a year. Unfortunately, the numbers go down from there with 20 percent surviving 2 years, 11 surviving three years, 10 percent surviving four years and 9 percent surviving 5 years. All and all, these are not great numbers.

So, let’s ask the obvious question. Are you doomed if diagnosed with Mesothelioma? No! Mesothelioma has been studied significantly and a wide range of treatments have been tried over the years. As a result, there is no a fairly clear course of treatment – aggressive. Doctors know that they need to go for broke and Mesothelioma survival rates are actually going up compared to years ago. The key is to be positive and be ready to undergo aggressive surgery, radio therapy and chemotherapy.

It should also be noted that there are a host of new treatments going through FDA clinical trials. These treatments attack Mesothelioma in many different ways. As a person diagnosed with the disease, you can participate in the trials. You can contact the National Cancer Institute to get a list of trials being conducted.

If you have to get cancer, Mesothelioma is not really the one you want. That being said, it is no longer an automatic death sentence. Be positive and demand aggressive treatment. Get a referral to a Mesothelioma specialist to ensure you are getting the latest treatments possible. People survive and you can as well.

Peritoneal mesothelioma treatment is imperative for those who are suffering from this disease. The treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma depends upon a number of factors, such as the size and stage of cancer cells, the patient’s general condition and health, past medical history of the patient and the patient’s age. Peritoneal mesothelioma is a type of cancer of the membrane in the abdomen.

Peritoneal mesothelioma treatments can be classified into two types, these are localized treatments and systemic treatments. Systemic treatments are whole body treatments like chemotherapy. Localized treatments include surgery and radiotherapy.

Surgical treatment is often not needed in the case of peritoneal mesothelioma. If the growth of cancer cell is found very early, it may be possible to remove tumor by operation. Radiation therapy or radiotherapy used to remove cancer cells in the affected area.

Chemotherapy is used to kill mesothelioma cells by injecting anti-cancer drugs that are usually injected into a vein. The treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma is not possible by traditional mesothelioma treatment ways. Today’s doctors and surgeons are constantly working to improve upon the existing peritoneal mesothelioma treatment.

Peritoneal mesothelioma is also known as the cancer of the peritoneal regions. The exact cause of cancer in the region is still undecided, but researchers and doctors hold the opinion that the condition is the result of constant exposure to asbestos. The doctors consider this condition as a subdivision of asbestos cancer Mesothelioma.

In the third and the final stage of peritoneal mesothelioma, the cancer cells might have grown apart from the abdominal cavity. Chemotherapy for peritoneal mesothelioma is known to work in the case of some patients. It completely depends on how the body is responding to the treatment. Doctors have recorded instances where a patient undergoing stage three could recover, because his body responded to the chemotherapy sessions.

As deadly as mesothelioma is on the life of whoever affected so also it continued to torment the children and wives victims of mesothelioma left behind, after they long gone to their graves. Many patients of mesothelioma unknowing also exposed their loved ones to cancer inducing asbestos dust and fibres through the settlements of those substances on their clothing which they take home every night from their workplaces.
One case in point is that of a woman who got mesothelioma as a result of taking care of her husband laundry needs. At the age of 42years Kathleen, a housewife was diagnosed of mesothelioma as a result of her exposure to asbestos from her laundering of her husband clothing who worked as a carpenter everyday at his place of work. She complained of shortness breath, chest pains and she went to the hospital. After many test and diagnosis, she was confirmed a mesothelioma sufferer. She was devastated by that medical revelation. How will she cope with paying for her treatment, and maternal responsibilities to her children to be precise, more so the prospect of paying her huge medical expenses coupled with the footing of her two daughters’ school bills. The burden of Kathleen medical condition was too heavy for Kathleen and her family to bear. The more harrowing part of her story was that she did not contract the disease as a result of her reckless lifestyle. She never smoked when she was young. That was how Kathleen started out on long difficult journey into her mesothelioma treatment.
Other victims of asbestos exposure are children of mesothelioma sufferers who got the disease as a result of helping their mother with the laundry of their fathers clothing. One of such people is Jane. Jane a housewife became a mesothelioma victim because her father worked as an asbestos installer in a shipyard, installing asbestos insulation. Jane’s father came home every evening with asbestos dust all over him and Jane with other siblings ignorantly played with their father’s clothes in the damper. This daily exposure to asbestos made everybody mesothelioma sufferers as a result of asbestos dust inhaled. After 27 years of working in an environment full of asbestos dust and no effort was made by his father’s employer to provide respirators that will protect the workers’ lungs even though the risks of asbestos was becoming known to everyone working in asbestos related environment. According to Jane, no shower or locker room was provided which would have reduced the risks and hazards pose to human health in these workplaces. Her father died in 1971 of mesothelioma related illness.
Jane’s eventful journey into mesothelioma problems began one day. She was busy with her household cores when mesothelioma symptoms suddenly struck her. She had problem breathing and she went to the hospital for treatment. She was first diagnosed of pneumonia but further tests and chest x-ray revealed that she has malignant mesothelioma. Jane became worried about her younger brothers and sisters whom health conditions. A nine and half hours surgery was later carried out on her to remove her left lung and from that surgery she was positively diagnosed with malignant diffuse mesothelioma. After she was diagnosed of mesothelioma and she realized how she got the disease.
Another unfortunate story is that of a woman who also got asbestos exposure through the laundering of her husband clothing. She was diagnosis after her husband who was confirmed mesothelioma sufferer fifteen years was treated for the disease. The housewife unlike her husband, who survives the treatment, died a month after she was diagnosed of mesothelioma.

Pancreatic Cancer – Prevention And Treatment
Pancreatic cancer, currently the fifth leading cause of death from cancer in the unite states, is the growth of malignant cells in the pancreas, a pear shaped organ located just below and behind the stomach. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestines via the common bile duct, and islet cells of the pancreas secrete hormones (insulin and glucagons) into the blood. Pancreatic cancer impairs the digestive process and may block the bile duct as it grows. Most cases occur after age 50; men are affected slightly more often than women. A cure is sometimes possible with early diagnosis and surgical removal. However, pancreatic cancer is extremely difficult to diagnose and has usually spread by the time symptoms appear, so cures are uncommon. Islet cell tumors (insulinomas) are much less common. They release excessive amounts of insulin, causing low blood glucose (hypoglycemia). Only about 10 percent of insulinomas are malignant, and the symptoms of hypoglycemia can be eliminated by surgical removal of the tumor.

For a balance view and treatment we have to examine first the conventional way and then the alternative prevention and treatment

Prevention can be implemented if the person minimize exposure to toxic chemicals at home an in the work place, and avoid cigarettes.

The Treatment

* Surgical removal of the tumor is possible with a relatively small tumor that has not yet spread, which may prolong survival time. Surgery may involve removal of the entire pancreas as well as a portion of the small intestine.
* Surgery to bypass a bile duct blocked by the tumor may be performed to relieve symptoms.
* Chemotherapy in combinations with radiation therapy may destroy cancerous cells and ease symptoms.
* Analgesics or narcotics are administered to reduce pain. Antihistamines or amphetamines may be used to enhance analgesic effects. In cases of severe pain, the relevant nerves may be cut or destroyed by an alcohol injection at the time of surgery.
* Tablets containing pancreatic enzymes may be prescribed if food is poorly absorbed because of a blockage of pancreatic secretions.
* Much has been said about conventional prevention and treatment. We will explore now some alternative prevention and treatment. Alternative prevention and cure are increasing and are now gaining respect in the scientific world. These treatments are not only dealing with the effects but are treating the cause. That’s why most of it are all effective if applied properly. All alternative prevention and cure are non invasive and its the highly recommended treatment by almost 15,000 European doctors. Alternative prostate cancer – prevention and cure as provided by the “one minute cure for all diseases” has gain prominence to a lot of people. The claim is so simple to understand; research unveiled that if you deprive a cell 35% of its required levels of oxygen for 48 hours, the cell will become cancerous. Most likely people don’t know is that lack of oxygen is not only the underlying cause of cancer but is also the cause of most diseases. When the body is supplied and delivered with abundant and enough amounts of oxygen, no cancer cells, viruses, harmful bacteria, toxins, pathogens and disease microorganisms can survive because they cannot survive in a highly oxygenated bodies.

Cancer surgery: Physically removing cancer

The prospect of cancer surgery may make you feel anxious. Put your mind at ease by learning more about cancer surgery and how and why it’s used…..

How is cancer surgery used in treatment ?

Cancer surgery may be used to achieve one or more goals.

Common reasons you might undergo cancer surgery include : -

 * Cancer prevention : – If there’s reason to believe that you’ll develop cancer in certain tissues or organs, your doctor may recommend removing those tissues or organs before cancer develops. For example, if you have a genetic condition called familial polyposis….

How is cancer surgery traditionally performed ?

Traditionally, the primary purpose of cancer surgery is to cure your cancer by physically removing all of it from your body. The surgeon usually does this by cutting into your body and removing the cancer along with some surrounding tissue to ensure that all of the cancer is removed. Your surgeon may also remove some lymph nodes in the area to determine if the cancer has spread. This helps your doctor assess the chance of your being cured, as well as the need for any further treatment…….

What other techniques are used in cancer surgery ?

Many other types of surgical methods for treating cancer and precancerous conditions exist, and investigators are always researching new methods.

Some common types of cancer surgery include : -

 * Cryosurgery : – During this type of surgery, your doctor uses very cold material, such as liquid nitrogen spray or a cold probe, to freeze and destroy cancer cells or cells that may become cancerous, such as irregular cells in a woman’s cervix that could become cervical cancer……

What can you expect before and after cancer surgery ?

Preparation and healing from cancer surgery varies greatly based on the operation you’re undergoing……….

What are the risks of cancer surgery ?

As with any surgery, cancer surgery does carry risks. What side effects you might experience after cancer surgery will depend on your specific surgery….

ancer describes a large amount of human diseases with very diverse qualities. Therefore, the distinction of neoplastic illnesses into groups and subcategories is of great worth in realizing them, diagnosing them, studying them, and building treatments for them. Malignant alteration, by definition, outcomes in abnormal cellular behavior. Cancer cells that have retained many of their specific tissue functions understanding that are very similar appearing to their typical cellular counterparts are identified as well differentiated.

Conversely, tumor cells which have dropped significantly of their functions and that bear little similarity to their typical counterparts are identified as improperly differentiated. Poorly differentiated tumors are sometimes so abnormal that their cellular or organ of source can’t be acknowledged. Nevertheless, although poorly differentiated tumor cells may have lost much of their specific functions, their mobile ancestry can frequently still be acknowledged by more primitive qualities.

The broadest classification of tumors relies on one of the most basic characterization of cellular kinds depending on their primitive embryologic origins. During early embryonic improvement, 3 cellular lineages are established: ectoderm, endoderm, and mesoderm. All subsequent cells, including adult tumors, can be traced to one of those 3 cellular origins. As such, tumors are broadly classified into the groups of carcinoma when they originate from ectodermal or endodermal cells or as sarcomas if they originate from mesodermal tissues. Even if totally unrecognizable by morphologic analysis, basic distinctions within the expression of certain proteins, especially intermediate filaments such as keratins and vimentin, will determine the lineage of source.

Carcinomas would be the most common cancer kind and consist of all the common epithelial tissue cancers this kind of as lung, colon, breast, and prostate cancers. Sarcomas arise from mesenchymal cell kinds, that are predominantly the connective tissues. Malignancies of blood cells, including leukemias and lymphomas, are technically a subtype of sarcomas because they are of mesenchymal source. Nevertheless, due to the extremely specialized nature of hematologic cellular kinds, they are generally grouped together and considered the entity of hematologic neoplasms, which contains leukemias and lymphomas.

Further classification of carcinomas and sarcomas is depending on the organ of origin. Within the developing infant and kid, mesenchymal tissues are very active in growth and remodeling, and mesenchymal cancers are typical, such as tumors from the muscle, cartilage, bone, and blood. In adults, the mesenchymal cells aren’t really energetic, and epithelial tumors are by far the most frequent, including cancers from the lung, breast, prostate, and colon. Developments in gene expression profiling of tumors has allowed distinction of tumors depending on characteristic molecular portraits, and more work in this area might end result in an entirely new classification of human tumors depending on their gene expression profiles.
